Improved Medication – Pilot Study Underway
Pilot Study Comparing Cysteamine Bitartrate Delayed-release Capsules (RP103) Cysteamine Bitartrate Capsules, (Cystagon) is Underway
A pilot study is currently underway at the University of California, San Diego (UCSD). This pilot study is comparing an investigational cysteamine drug (RP103) for the potential treatment of cystinosis to the existing treatment, Cystagon®. Dr. Bruce Barshop is the principal investigator for this study.
Through this work we are learning some important things about dose and administration of the investigational drug RP103. Before moving on to the phase 3 study, it is important to better understand how best to administer the Cysteamine Bitartrate Delayed-release Capsules. Raptor Pharmaceuticals has submitted the Investigational Drug Application, and anticipates submitting the New Drug Application after phase 3 trials are completed.
More information is available at clinicaltrials.gov.
Raptor Pharmaceuticals is sponsoring this study. It is the first clinical study planned with Cysteamine Bitartrate Delayed-release Capsules.
